Situated in foothills of lofty Himalyas in the state of Uttaranchal is the 'CORBETT NATIONAL PARK'. It is the oldest and one of the finest national park of Indian subcontinent. Established in 1936 as “Hailey National Park”, it was named after Jim Corbett in 1957 as homage to deceased naturalist, writer and conservationlist.
The park is famous as the land of 'Trumpet, Roar and Song'. Spread over an area of 1318 square. Kms. of Sal, reverine forests and open grasslands with Ramganga river flowing almost throughout its length. It is famous as home for tigers, elephant herds, over 50 other mammals, 570 birds and about 25 reptile species.
